Edinburgh Photo Contest Winners!

Image
Edinburgh Photo Contest Winners!  Blogger: Ms. King  Each day of our trip I assigned a daily photo prompt for everyone to follow. It turned out to be a great way to see parts of the city we may have simply walked past or ignored. Each night during our "family meeting" where we detailed the next day's events we would end with a vote on the day's photo prompt. We are delighted to present you, dear readers, with the winners from each day: Day One: Scottish Tartan in the Wild!  (The tartan, traditional Scottish plaid, could not be in a store or gift shop, it must have been worn)  Winner: Sebby Schroth  Day Two: Most Interesting Door  (The door could be colorful, ornate, unique, old, beautiful, etc.)  Winner: Juliet Wade  Day Three: Something Broken (Anything broken and beautiful)  Winner: Alisa Ross  Day Four: Signs   (Most interesting, intriguing, shocking, beautiful or humorous sign)  Winner: Ms. King  Day Five: Reflections ...

Final Show Day

Final Show Day Blogger: Alisa Ross  What a bittersweet last day in Scotland. Waking up, used to the routine everyone had already established for themselves, it registered that today marked the ending of our chapter in Edinburgh. The morning was full of "last times" in preparation for our final show of Pandora: A Tragicomic Greek Romp. Last time getting ready, last time walking to our venue, last time handing out flyers, and last time finding comfort in our preshow rituals for this specific production. Our time in the dressing room was extended as the cast shared grateful anecdotes, encouragement, and contemplated the very fact that all the energy we put into this show had one more chance to shine.  There was a different energy on stage today. The cast agreed that this was our best show, that we poured our hearts out. An incredibly supportive audience full of family and some strangers (who still laughed a ton!) only added to our fulfillment. Thanks to Ms. King and Mr. Joh...

5th Show & Ghosts!

5th Show & Ghosts!  Blogger: Anastasiya Swift  On the second-to-last day of our trip to Edinburgh, Scotland, we woke up at around 8:45 a.m. to get ready for our fourth show.  After a small breakfast, we left at 10:30 a.m. in order to do some promotion.  Eitan dressed up as the Demogorgon,  Juliet and Alyssa convinced passersby to open Pandora's Box, revealing custom pins, and the rest of us handed out flyers and held up posters.  Our goal for this show was to have an extreme amount of energy when performing, and Abe had a great idea to accomplish this.  He created a competition and said that whoever had the most energy would win a special mystery prize.  This motivated us to perform, unarguably, our best show yet.  We are going to continue this competition tomorrow, where the true winner will be revealed.   Once we were out of costume, we had some free time to get lunch and relax before seeing a show at 3:55 p.m., which wa...

4th Show & Comedy!

4th Show & Comedy!  Blogger: Callum MacMaster Today was a great return to our show after two days of rest! We got off to an excellent start with our street promotions, and this was our favorite day yet. Beginning with Demogorgon in the window, which - as always - attracted the attention of many crowds and one unamused tour guide. As with previous times, this was a success - word of our show is even more widespread. After moving Demogorgon to the ground and the following chase, our performance was our most consistent show yet. But with the success of our promotions, I'm sure our final two shows will have an amazing reception! Camera Obscura was a whimsical experience! The illusions were fun, interactive, and dazzling. My personal favorites were the Ames Room, the mirror maze, and the ladder to Australia. I've been a fan of Ames Rooms since I learned about them, and getting to finally step inside one was fantastic and trippy. I wasn't expecting the mirror maze to be as c...

Day Off #2

Image
Day Off #2 Blogger: Eitan Skolnick Today we had another day off from performing and we started the day with a guided tour of the Edinburgh Castle. We saw sights such as the one o' clock cannon, the oldest standing building in Scotland, St. Margaret's chapel, and the Scottish Crown Jewels, which are the oldest in-tact set of crown jewels.  From there we went to a performance of Finding Nemo Jr. done by another youth theatre company.  Next,  we went to a production of Almost, Maine which was performed by Boonsboro High School which is not too far from our school!  The format of the show had multiple different story lines that are interconnected which made for an entertaining show.  We then went to see Showstopper the Improvised Musical again! We loved the show so much the first time we went back and had a great time. This time they improvised an entire musical about what happens when legos get lost. We ended the day with grabbing some dinner and promoting ou...

3rd Show Day & Day Off!

Our 3rd Show Day & Day Off Blogger: Sebby Schroth & Abe Gold From Sebby : Our 3rd show day! We woke up knowing it would be a windy and cold day, so we made sure to bundle up before we headed to our venue. However, just before the show, we continued our promotional shenanigans! Eitan dressed in his Demogorgon costume chased us down the street as we yelled for help and for people to come see our show to help save us! Although we got many strange looks, we absolutely believed it helped us get a few more people to our show that day. Following running down the streets, we had another great show, accompanied by an audience member who definitely enjoyed our comedy. We heard laughter coming from him the entire show!  Later in the day, we attended another high school's performance of Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, which was 30 plays in 60 minutes. The audience was encouraged to yell out numbers that corresponded to a play from a "menu" we were given before the sh...

2nd Show Day!

Image
2nd Show Day!  Blogger: Juliet Wade  Today sure was an eventful day! We started off the day being able to sleep in a bit, we got ready, and then... the fun started. Eitan decided to put on his Demogorgan costume and yell out the window of our AirBnB onto the Royal Mile. It started to attract a lot of people and many photos/videos were taken. Abe and I then decided to go outside and scream about Demogorgan to anyone on The Royal Mile who would listen.  Abe and I yelled, "Come save us by seeing Pandora at the Annexe at 11:35!" We also gave out fliers and got people to open the box. We then took a nice walk down Victoria Street and stopped to perform our key stealing scene to attract more attention for our show! "It's a note! It says... Come see Pandora at the Annexe at 11:35!?" We then got to our venue and prepared for Show #2. After a spectacular performance, we scurried home to get changed and run to see K Mak Music, a beautiful planetarium music experience tha...
